I had this problem with my SS GMT IIc after five years. I was adjusting the time with the hour hand and it went click and the hour hand moved freely, no define clicking like it . It's been about 2 weeks since I last wore my M series II-C. I wound it 40 revs and pulled the stem out to set the time. The hour hand had a strange feel to it, not "snapping" in . I tried moving it again but this time noticed that the hour hand didn't click into place - it was flowing smoothly, no usual clicking sounds. I pulled the crown out to the max to check . My mistake was after getting GMT hand in place. I advanced the GMT hand to 3 o'clock position, then removed the crown (to avoid moving/pushing) but this allowed the balance wheel to move again advancing .
